The Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Amar Bendjama, called on Sunday evening in New York to impose sanctions on the Zionist entity that is conducting a savage aggression against the Gaza Strip and has just announced a plan to reoccupy Gaza City.
“Algeria condemns with the utmost firmness the decision of the occupying power to displace the entire population of the city of Gaza and northern Gaza, and to impose total military control,” said Amar Bendjama during his intervention at an emergency meeting of the Security Council to discuss the Zionist entity’s decision to reoccupy Gaza.
“Gaza is facing hell, it is in the hands of an occupying power that threatens international peace and security,” he emphasised.
“As if Gaza were not already under occupation.” As if Gaza were not already under an inhumane siege. These are war crimes, and those who plot their plans with blood must not live in the shadow of impunity. Justice must call them by their names,” Mr. Bendjama protested.
“After twenty-two months of forced displacements, famine, and ethnic cleansing,” the operation aimed at relocating the population of the Palestinian enclave “will not only ruin Gaza, it will annihilate what remains of it,” warned the representative of Algeria.
The list of martyrs, among them those who died of hunger, “is too long, too heavy, too dark to be summarised in one page.” And yet, persisting in their genocidal tactics, the occupying authorities continue their plans,” he said.
Mr. Bendjama assured that their ultimate goal was to “expel an entire people from their homeland” and to ensure that the Palestinians have “neither a state, nor a flag, nor a future.”
Despite this, the diplomat questioned the ability of the Zionists to achieve this goal because, he stated, “(…) despite the brutality, the Palestinians will not abandon their homeland (and) will not renounce their rights.”
He particularly emphasised the fact that the Zionist entity did not respect international law and “mocked” the Security Council. It acts with “brutality, cruelty, and barbarism” towards the Palestinians. She orchestrates their massacres by all means, using famine, thirst, weapons, and humiliation as instruments, he reported.
Amar Bendjama noted, however, that “all voices have been raised” against the ongoing genocide in the Palestinian enclave. He will mention, in this regard, the investigation conducted by the International Court of Justice concerning “the plausible crime of genocide by the occupying power,” also recalling that the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants against the perpetrators of war crimes among the Zionist leaders.
For its part, the UN General Assembly “repeatedly condemns the occupation and demands its end, while the UN Human Rights Council counts the wounds and denounces each violation,” he added. Nevertheless, the Security Council “says nothing,” the diplomat remarked in astonishment. “The silence is not neutral.” Silence kills,” he warned.
Mr. Bendjama urged the Security Council to “act, decisively, resolutely, using its most powerful means” in response to the crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinians.
“The time has come to impose sanctions on the hand that steals the land, on the flag that flies over the ruins, on the enemy of humanity,” he concluded.
